Alliteration: การสัมผัสอักษร, วิธีสัมผัสอักษรพยางค์ (of a word group)
Starting three or more words with the same sound. Example: The crazy crackling crops
Assonance: สัมผัสสระ ความคล้ายคลึงกันของเสียง,ภาวะสัมผัสเพี้ยน,ความสอดคล้องกันบางส่วน. -assonant adj.
A repetition of vowel sounds within syllables with changing consonants. Example: Tilting at windmills
Cliche:สำนวน ซ้ำ ๆ ซาก ๆ น่าเบื่อ,ความคิดที่เก่าคร่ำครึ adj. คร่ำครึ,ซ้ำ ๆ ซาก ๆ ,เก่า,Syn. platitude An overused word or phrase. Example: I'm so hungry I could eat a horse.
Homonym: คำพ้องรูปหรือคำพ้องเสียง
A word that has the same spelling (or different spelling but same sound) as another, but has a different meaning or origan.
Hyperbole: คำพูดที่พูดเกินความจริง การขยายความ,การพูดเกินจริง,การเขียนเกินเลย
A large exageration, usually used with humor. Example: The fish was a football field and a granny long.
Idiom: การใช้ภาษาอย่างเป็นธรรมชาติของเจ้าของภาษา ซึ่งมีสำนวนแบบเจ้าของภาษา ภาษาถิ่น,
A language familiar to a group of people. Example: Ya'll comin' to da party tonight?
Metaphor: คำอุปมา
A word or phrase used to have a completely different meaning. Example:
Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" being a constant reminder of his loss and not truly a raven.
Onomatopoeia: การสร้างคำโดยการเลียนเสียงธรรมชาติ
A word imitating a sound. Example: 'buzz', 'moo' and 'beep'
Penultimate syllable: พยางค์ ก่อนลำดับหลังสุด
The next to last syllable of a word.
Rhyme:คำ สัมผัส
Similarity of sound in the last syllable. Example: Spoon and Toon
Simile: การอุปมาอุปไมย
An expression that compares one thing to another using 'like' or 'as'. Example: The milk tasted like pickles.
Synecdoche: คำเปรียบเทียบ
The metaphorical or rhetorical substitution of a whole for a part or vice versa. Example: Counting 'heads' as cattle.
Tercet: the cardinal number that is the sum of one and one and one ชุดของคำสามใบเถาที่มีเสียงและความหมายเหมือนกัน สามคำ
เช่น จำปูน จำปี จำปา(ชื่อดอกไม้ที่ มีชื่อคล้องจองกัน สามคำ)
A group of three lines, often rhyming together or with another tercet.
